I have put together some information to help new clients understand how the treatment is provided but if anything you’d like to know is not included below then do please get in touch.
What do I wear?
For both Tui Na and Thai Massage then tracksuit trousers, leggings or loose trousers and a t-shirt or similar are the most suitable. Jeans are not so good as they are not flexible enough and the material is too heavy.
For acupuncture sometimes just an adjustment of clothing may suffice but do bear in mind you may need to get partially undressed, depending on where the needles are going but your modesty will be protected at all times.
How long are appointments?
A variety of options are available. Tui Na massage appointments can be either 30 mins or 1 hour.Thai massage appointments can be either 1hr, 1.5 hrs or 2 hours. Acupuncture treatments are usually around 40 mins but it is best to allow an hour to incorporate an initial consultation and and subsequent follow up discussions on progress etc.
Not sure how long a session to book? Contact me and we can discuss the options.
How many treatments will I need?
I do not commit you to a course of treatments. Of course, I am happy to do this but progress is different for everyone. Injury, pain and perception are different for everyone. After your first session we can discuss a plan of action if required. I prefer to take a flexible approach and see how things progress session by session.
What happens on my first visit?
Before your treatment starts we will sit down and either complete a consultation form if it is your first treatment, or talk about how progress has been or what you are hoping to gain from your treatment. This is usually just 5-10mins depending, and then treatment will commence.
How do I pay?
Cash, card (all major credit/debit cards accepted) or cheque.
Changing/cancelling appointments
Minimum of 24 hours’ notice of any change or cancellation please. Cancellations of less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a 50% charge. I do not send out appointment reminders so please make sure you make a note of your appointment date and time.
Any aftercare advice?
You could be a little sore after treatment, particularly if treatment was for an injury or problem. This soreness will dissipate usually after a day or 2 and is also usually more apparent after the first treatment. Clients usually find that subsequent treatments have less after effects – other than positive ones!
It is usually most beneficial to rest after treatment. I give ample time for clients to rest and perhaps have a glass of water before driving away. Obviously we all lead busy lives but try and avoid any heavy or demanding work immediately after treatment. Thai massage sessions, in particular 2-hour sessions can you leave you feeling super-relaxed and ready for a sleep a couple of hours or so after the session and is worth bearing in mind.
